The Bikini Islands have had an important place in history, and most of us don’t know it. A host of islands in the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. tested VERY large-scale nuclear weapons there (the largest hydrogen bomb ever dropped by the United States, in fact), and they gave name to the bathing suit. The dropping of the bomb even inspired Godzilla, Spongebob, the country’s flag, and a whooole lot of controversy!
